ALESCON Comets will face defending champions PowerGen in the final of the Carib Twenty20 tournament after beating Ceramic Merry Boys in the second semi-final by 22 runs on Tuesday night at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain. “Man-of-the-Match” Rayad Emrit took three for 12 with his medium pace as Merry Boys were dismissed for 104 from 18.1 overs with none of their batsmen able to get going.

Trinidad and Tobago pacer Atiba Allert claimed three for 19 as Comets were earlier restricted to 126 for eight from their 20 overs after skipper Daren Ganga won the toss and elected to bat first.

The final will be played tomorrow at The Oval starting at 7.55pm with Merry Boys and Clico Preysal contesting the third place match at 4.30 pm.

Emrit showed the pedigree that got him selected on the Stanford Superstars team with an impressive bowling display as Comets successfully defended a small total.

He struck a double blow in his first over and the second of the match, claiming the prized scalp of Lendl Simmons, caught behind by wicketkeeper Faizal Baksh and Merry Boys captain Lincoln Roberts, caught at point by Satish Naidoo, both without scoring.

Leg-spinner, Imran Khan who was smashed for two boundaries in his first over by Mario Belcon rebounded by taking a return catch off his own bowling to dismiss the opening batsman for 10 runs.
