CHAMPION rider Patrick Husbands landed two winners at Woodbine on Wednesday night to close on the leaders of the current jockeys race.
The current seven-time Sovereign Award winner kicked off the night with victory in the opener aboard Mollygolly in a six furlong race worth Can$19,284 for three-year-old maiden fillies.
And he was again in winner’s enclosure in the third race astride Miss Reginella in a 5 ½ furlong Allowance race worth Can$61,300 for three-year- olds.
Apart from his two winners, Husbands was third aboard Torreadora in the sixth race which had an all Caribbean finish.
Countryman Jono Jones rode winner Luna Blu of the Can$69,600 5 ½ furlongs race for four-year-old and upward fillies and mares with Trinidadian Richard Anthony Dos Ramos second on Drama.
Husbands’ two winning rides took his total for the season to 14, six behind two-time Sovereign Award winning jockey Emile Ramsammy (20) and trail Brazilian rider Eurico Rosa Da Silva (19) by five.
On Wednesday night, Ramsammy had a blank after scoring doubles and trebles over the previous three racing days.
