LOOK no further than the big three- Treasure Hunt, Go For The Gold and Grand Riviere to take the first jewel on the local Triple Crown, the Carib Brewery Limited Guineas Stakes at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, today. And on a wave of woman power, the filly Grand Riviere should be the one to lead them home in the 1800 metres race and take the major chunk of the $315,000 prize money.

But it should be a race all turfites will want to see with the respective trainers Dr Ryan Shim (Go For The Gold), Douglas Bennett (Treasure Hunt) and John O’Brien (Grand Riviere), each having their charges razor sharp.

This leading trio has done all required of them and it could come down to jockey tactics in the final analysis.

The Shandy Carib Handicap 1 & Lower extended sprint over 1350 metres is another intriguing one on the plate of turfites today, with any of Sweet Alex, Cash It Back, Mister Kingston or three-year-old Exquisite Touch likely to go past the post first.

The one I plump for, however, is the top weight Sweet Alex from the in-form O’Brien barn.

Those fancying the Hi 5 betting will delight in having four races designated for wagering, the third, fifth, seventh and 10th, with a $30,447.55 single winner bonus awaiting in the first of the lot.

There are lots of giveaways today, while there are prizes for the champion rider and trainer of the day, while a trophy and hamper will go to the owner, trainer, jockey and groom of winners of each race.

Post time for the day’s opener on this holiday Indian Arrival Day is 11.30 am.
