JFF calls 25 for CAC training

Twenty-five players have been called-up to a camp in preparation for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games football tournament, by national coach Theodore Whitmore.

The squad includes 12 players who were part of the last camp, with an additional 13 invited to the six-day exercise, which is being used by Whitmore to aid his selections for the tournament which gets underway in Puerto Rico on July 22.

Named among the new invitees are St James High hotshot, Allan Ottey, who was in January called to a training squad with the senior Reggae Boyz ahead of a friendly international against Canada.

The team also consists of Theo Brown (Waterhouse FC) and John Ross-Doyley (Portmore United), who were also a part of Jamaica's team to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup qualifiers last year.

Jamaica have been drawn alongside Panama, Mexico and St Vincent. The second group will comprise Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, Belize and host Puerto Rico. The sche-dule for the matches will be announced shortly.

Under 21 event

CONCACAF has announced that participants must be born on or after January 1, 1989, and the tournament will be treated as an Under-21 event, in keeping with the Olympic nature of the tourney. The squad will report to camp today and will break on Friday.
