DAREN GANGA scored an unbeaten 39 runs yesterday to lead the Lendl Simmons XI to a six wicket victory over a Dave Mohammed XI in a National 20/20 Trial match at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain. The Dave Mohammed XI had earlier posted a modest 113 for seven in their allotted 20 overs with Tishan Maraj top-scoring with 27.

Maraj has been in good form in the trial matches as he looks to break into the national team after a five-year lay off. The aggressive Williams Perkins smashed 22 while all-rounder Sherwin Ganga added 21 and Jason Mohammed chipped in with 19.

Rayad Emrit was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of three wickets for 16 runs while off-spinner Sunil Narine had two wickets for 14 runs.

In reply, the Simmons XI, made light work of the total, cruising to victory in just 17.2 overs.

Daren Ganga led with his stroke-filled 39 runs while Kevon Cooper was also in good nick with 34 not-out.

Navin Stewart took one for 19 while left-arm orthodox spinner Kavesh Kantasingh, who enjoyed a great season with the CCC team, had one wicket as well.

The next trial match will be held tomorrow at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground, UWI, St Augustine at 10 am.
