VIJAYANTI looked very sharp in what could be her final workout ahead of the feature Oaks Stakes on Arima Race Club Day 24 at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday. The Glenn Mendez-trained filly scooted through 600 metres together with the older Sound Of Thunder, covering the distances in a good 37.1 seconds.

Another holding the engagement in the $200,000 race over 1800 metres, Golden Millennium, but this filly just did pace work over 800 metres in 59.1 seconds.

Sonata’s Melody also from the Mendez barn showed she was ready for all in the Starter Allowance race over 1750 metres with a good gallop over 600 metres timed in 37.3 seconds. Gold Bead also had a good gallop over 600 metres which was clocked in a good 36.3 seconds.

Meanwhile, ARC produced a nine-race programme for Saturday with the opener timed for 12.15 pm.

There will be 11 runners in the day’s feature with the withdrawal of Classy Lady.

Turfites will get a serious test to their knowledge in the day’s finale over 1100 metres on the turf course for three-year-old maidens.

In this race, there are 20 entrants with a second place finish being best of the entire lot.
