TWIN brothers Joshua and Ty Abraham defeated Elan Mendes and Scott Lanser in straight sets to cop the Boys 14-18 Doubles crown at the recently concluded RBTT Tobago Open Tennis Tournament which was played at the Shaw Park Public Courts, Tobago.
The Abraham brothers won the first set 7-5 and clinched the match with a 6-2 win in the second.
On Sunday, it was reported that Mendes and Lanser won the match while the sibling pair lost by the same score.
The tournament, which served off last week, attracted approximately 150 participants and was described as a great success.
Other champions include Vaughn Wilson (Boys Under-18 Singles), Yohansey Williams (Men’s ‘A’ Singles), Joshua Abraham (Men’s ‘B’ Singles), Liam Gomez and Vaughn Wilson (Men’s Doubles), Raye Ann Sandy and Breana Stampfli (Senior Girls Doubles), Nkrumah Patrick and Jabari Lewis (Junior Boys Doubles) and the pair of Danielle Devenish and Juliet Campbell (Junior Girls Doubles).
The local tennis development programmes continue on September 3 while the Senior Age Group Championships get underway from September 10. There will be a Play Tennis introductory coaching course in Tobago from September 15-17.
