First Citizens has pledged their support for Olympic swimmer George Bovell III as he prepares for the London Games in July, 2012. As the only truly local bank in Trinidad and Tobago, First Citizens has consistently invested in initiatives that promote sport and as a result contribute to national development e.g. Water Polo & Mini Polo Leagues, First Citizens Cup Tournament, First Citizens Clarke Road and the UWI SPEC International Half Marathon, just to name a few.

George Bovell III is a sporting icon in TT. He has participated in the last three Olympiads for Trinidad and Tobago and intends to compete at a fourth.

Some highlights of his illustrious career thus far include earning an Olympic bronze medal and breaking the world record in the 200m Individual Medley, capturing five Pan American Medals (two Gold, two Silver and one Bronze), and five individual NCAA Titles. George is currently the fourth fastest man in history in the 50m Freestyle.

Bovell recently signed a contract with First Citizens cementing the agreement. When asked how he felt about the partnership, he said: “As a corporate citizen, First Citizens has pledged its commitment to me as I charter another course in my sporting career. As the only truly local bank, it is evident that our commonality of patriotism is a perfect partnership as I progress towards 2012 stroke by stroke.”
