Jamol Eastmond unstoppable at Cycling Criterium

UNBEATEN, that is how Jamol Eastmond went into yesterday’s Barbados Cycling Union two-hour criterium and that is how he left.

It is a dream start to his 2012 season which he is contesting for the first time in the senior category, and when the bell rung for the final lap of the 12.5 km circuit, there was yet another familiar sight.

Whorms and crew prove Too Lucky

Most fishermen are happy to get one or two sizeable fish at sea. Very rarely do they walk away with 12 big catches.

However that was the case for the crew of Too Lucky in Robert Whorms, Albert McLean, Roger Wood and Ernest Bush. The local anglers were competing in the Barcadere Classic last weekend, the first sanctioned Cayman Islands Angling Club competition for 2012.

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The end of the 2012 Sandals Foundation Rockersville/Gray’s Green Invitational Basketball League season is fast approaching. Its final games are on tap at Ford Road Sports Complex.

Last night, Big Banana Express and Baldwin Spencer Braves clashed in the third place game while this evening will feature Zone A leaders Akhimo against the undefeated Zone B top dogs, JSC Hawks, to determine the overall league champions.

Richards: Softball association must include PMS

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Director of Sports, Mervyn “MR” Richards, has sought to address concerns over the issuing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Antigua & Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA) for the field immediately west of Princess Margaret Secondary School following calls from at least one former national athlete for the agreement to be made null and void.

Richards, during an interview with OBSERVER Sports on Sunday, said although the ministry had in fact signed an MOU with the softball cricket association, it is only for them to manage the facility in terms of its usage and that all decisions with regards to upgrades and usage must first be discussed to the school as stated in the MOU.

Leewards stumble

ROSEAU, Dominica  – Spin duo Devendra Bishoo and Veerasammy Permaul bowled Guyana to a 234-run victory over Leeward Islands in the Regional 4-Day Tournament yesterday.

Bishoo grabbed four wickets for 31 runs from 9.4 overs and Permaul snatched four for 36 from 12 overs, as Leewards were dismissed for 102 in their second innings in the first hour after tea on the second day of their first round match at Windsor Park.
