ANGENIE KANHAI resumes her role as the General Secretary of the Caribbean Football Union effective on Monday.
Kanhai is returning following a one year sabbatical, in which she successfully completed a Masters Degree Programme in the Humanities, Management and Law of Sport from the De Montford University of Leicester, England, SDA Bocconi of Milan, Italy and University of Neuchatel, Switzerland . The programme was co-ordinated by the International Center of Sports Studies.
A media release from the CFU yesterday stated that they are confident the experience will enrich Kanghai’s already expansive knowledge base and will resound positively in the management and administrative structures of the Caribbean Football Union.
The president of the Caribbean Football Union, Jack Warner has commended the contributions of Neville Ferguson over the past year. Over the past 12 months Ferguson has admirably performed the duties associated with the Office of the Secretary General of the Caribbean Football Union.
“ Mr Ferguson has risen to the challenges associated with this office. In no way was that a minuscule task and for his temerity and tenacity he must be greatly commended. I am also pleased with Ms Kanhai’s decision to return to the Caribbean Football Union. Ms Kanhai’s quest through the international halls of some of the world’s premier sporting learning institutions will resound positively on our organisation.”
“The global environment is rapidly changing, like any living organism we must adapt to survive, progress and augment. We must be willing to embrace new ideas if we are to even conceive notions of greatness.
“It is our ability to be flexible to the changing needs of our surroundings which will allow us as a Union to shatter our unforeseeable boundaries. Ms Kanhai’s expanding knowledge base, I am confident will aid us in our quest to improve the administrative structure within our organisation,” he stated.
Over the next five months the Caribbean Football Union will be hosting a number of competitions including the Digicel Caribbean Championship, the Men’s U-17 and U-20 Competitions as well as the final stages of the Caribbean leg of the Women ‘s Gold Cup qualifiers.
