ROSEAU, Dominica  – Spin duo Devendra Bishoo and Veerasammy Permaul bowled Guyana to a 234-run victory over Leeward Islands in the Regional 4-Day Tournament yesterday.

Bishoo grabbed four wickets for 31 runs from 9.4 overs and Permaul snatched four for 36 from 12 overs, as Leewards were dismissed for 102 in their second innings in the first hour after tea on the second day of their first round match at Windsor Park.

Smith slams hundred but Windwards go down

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Devon Smith’s 19th first class century was not enough to prevent Windward Islands from crashing to an 81-run, defeat inside three days as Jamaica emphatically started the defence of their Regional Four-Day Championship title yesterday.

The left-handed Smith stroked 103 but the Windwards, set 320 for victory at Sabina Park, were dismissed for 238 with left-arm spinner Nikita Miller taking three for 65 and West Indies fast-bowling all-rounder Andre Russell claiming three for 16.

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Former champions Cool & Smooth Empire received yet another blow to hopes of staving off automatic relegation when they were beaten 1-0 by La Bussola Willikies in the imobile Premier Division at Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) on Saturday.

Adding insult to injury, it was a former player and captain of the Empire squad, Steveroy “Deman” Anthony, who inflicted the wound when he put a long range effort over the head of goalkeeper Kendell Honore and into the back of the net in minute 28.
