SAM’S HERO rounded off his preparation for this year’s Midsummer Classic with a good gallop over 1000 metres at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday. One of the nine Jamaican-bred runners in the 1900 metres race with a purse of $450,000, the Johnathan Lyder-trained colt stepped 1000 metres together with Star Diamond, stopping the clock at one minute 02.3 seconds.

Another Midsummer Classic contender Visible Wind from the Chester Roberts barn, was lively over 600 metres timed in 37.0 seconds. High Dollar Harry galloped 1000 metres in a good one minute 02.3 seconds while Golden Pride shaped well over 600 metres in 38.4 seconds.

Most Definitely was clocked in 35.3 seconds for 600 metres coming out of the boxes, while Cocoa In The Sun was timed in 39.2 seconds also over 600 metres. Nad Al Sheba also had a good gallop over 400 metres in a sharp 25.0 seconds.
